This is our most-loved jar. The Sisters of the Valley CBD topical salve is a rich, rub-on balm holding about 1,000 mg of CBD per 8 oz jar, hand-poured in small batches in our Merced enclave for folks who want to tend a specific sore or irritated spot. It is plant-based, hemp-derived, women-made, and third-party lab tested. If you keep one jar of anything we make within reach, our people tell us it tends to be this one.
What it is and who it is for
A topical salve is meant to be worked into the skin right where you want it, not swallowed. Many of our people reach for it for everyday aches, stiff or hard-working joints, tired muscles after a long day or a workout, and rough or irritated patches of skin. Because you rub it onto the spot itself, it is an easy choice when your attention is on one area rather than your whole body. It will not get anyone high and it will not show up as a problem on a standard drug test.
How a topical works
Rubbed-on CBD works close to home. It soaks into the skin and the tissue right under it and stays local, rather than traveling through your bloodstream the way an oil taken under the tongue does. That is exactly why a salve suits a single spot so well. Our beeswax and coconut-oil base is built for this: the oils help the salve carry into the skin, while the beeswax helps it stay put on the surface so it keeps working where you placed it.
What is in the jar
We keep the recipe simple and plant-based: solid and liquid coconut oil infused with hemp, beeswax, vitamin E oil, calendula in olive oil, and your choice of lavender or mint essential oil. The lavender is soft and calming; the mint is bright and cooling. Both carry the same CBD. Because it is a natural, oil-based salve, a little separation now and then is normal, not a flaw.
How to use it
Start with about a half teaspoon, roughly 2.5 mg of CBD, worked into the area, and use it as often as you need through the day. There is one gentle exception: for irritated skin, keep it to once a day so the skin can breathe and heal. A jar this size holds about 96 of those half-teaspoon applications, so it lasts a good long while. Many folks find it absorbs best right after a warm shower, when the skin is most open. If you have a stubborn spot, you can cover it with a warm compress after applying.
How we make it, and how you can trust it
We make every batch by hand and by the moon, beginning on the new moon, in a spiritual environment with prayers for the people sewn into every jar. Each batch is third-party lab tested for potency and purity, and we publish the results openly so you can see exactly what is in your jar before you ever open it. You can read them on our lab test results page. Our products are hemp-derived and made to honor the plant, never to intoxicate.
Storage and good to know
Keep your jar in a cool, dry place, closed when you are not using it, and out of the reach of children. Do not refrigerate or freeze it. Stored properly and kept away from temperature extremes, it holds full potency for up to eighteen months. As with anything new, it is wise to talk with your own doctor first, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or managing a health condition. This product has not been evaluated by the FDA, and it is not meant to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition.
Other sizes and where to go next
If 8 oz feels like more than you need, we make the same salve in a 4 oz jar (~500 mg) and a pocket-friendly 1/2 oz sample tin that is nice for travel or trying mint and lavender side by side.
